Healthy and Sustainable Eating: Leading the Shift

January 16, 2020

In order to protect our planet and our health, our eating habits will need to shift. As health professionals, community workers, educators, and researchers, we’ll be at the forefront of this movement.

Our 2019 Forum brought together approximately 200 attendees across sectors to explore the concept of sustainable eating from a food literacy perspective. Our speakers addressed such questions as:

  • What does it mean to eat sustainably?
  • How can we convey clear, simple, and evidence-based messaging on sustainable eating to our audiences?
  • What are some accessible strategies and tools on this topic that we can use in our practices?
  • What shifts are needed on a broader systems level and how can we work towards them?

Attendees told us that they appreciated the range of perspectives and the diversity of professionals in attendance. Our hope is to spark collaboration and conversation to continue to build momentum on this important issue.
