Strengthening Ontario’s Food System: A Collaborative Approach

Ontario needs a food system that is sustainable, resilient, economically-viable, and promotes the wholistic health and well-being of all Ontarians. The Ontario Food and Nutrition Strategy (OFNS) is a comprehensive expert- and evidence-informed plan to create such a food system that identifies 25 priority policy options within three strategic directions: healthy food access, food literacy and skills, and healthy food systems. This webinar presents the rationale and evidence for these 25 priority action areas as described in the recently released Ontario Food and Nutrition Strategy technical report. The webinar also provides a snapshot of programs and policies currently underway that support the OFNS and share lessons learned from the implementation of these programs and policies to strengthen future work in this area. There will also be a discussion about collaborative efforts to implement the OFNS across multi-sectors of the food and nutrition system in Ontario.
