October 23, 2019

Our Food and Health Today podcast features insights into the latest food and health news and views. From new legislation, to the latest health and nutrition science, to innovative programs and ideas, our aim is to keep our listeners informed and current.

On October 17, 2018, The Cannabis Act came into force in Canada. This legislation controlled the production, distribution, sale and possession of cannabis across Canada. If you’re interested in hearing some insights about the implementation of this legislation, check out our previous podcast called Cannabis Legalization in Canada, where we spoke with Andrew Freedman, former Director of Marijuana Coordination for the state of Colorado.

In this episode, we will continue the conversation about Cannabis Legalization in Canada, with a look at the legalization of cannabis edibles, which became legal October 17, 2019. We will be talking with Jill Ellsworth, founder and CEO of Willow Industries, Inc., a company which provides post-harvest microbial decontamination of cannabis in Denver, Colorado. Jill serves on the Cannabis Health and Safety Advisory Committee for the City of Denver and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a Master of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science. She is a vocal advocate for the cannabis industry’s adoption of FDA-like standards and proactive promotion of safety measures.

Jill will provide a brief overview of the different forms of cannabis and how they can be consumed. We’ll then focus on her lessons learned from the legalization of cannabis edibles in Colorado and she will weigh in on what were the proposed regulations for cannabis edibles in Canada, which are now in force.
