Description

Recreation facilities can provide a healthy, supportive environment that offers opportunities for both active living and making healthier food choices. However, creating healthy recreation food environments can be challenging and it may be difficult to know where to start. In this webinar, you will be introduced to a new resource developed in collaboration with the Nutrition Resource Centre and the Ontario Society of Nutrition Professionals in Public Health’s Healthy Eating in Recreation Settings Workgroup to help communities build healthier food environments in recreation spaces. This resource outlines specific actions recreation facilities can take to create healthy policies, develop request for proposals or contract processes and build a business case to promote healthy eating. You will also learn key lessons and practical tips from three Ontario communities, including two Healthy Kids Community Challenge communities, who are taking action to increase access to healthier food and beverage options in recreation spaces.
