Child Care Healthy Eating and Active Living Guidelines
These guidelines were created by Ottawa Public Health in partnership with the City of Ottawa Municipal Child Care Services to help ensure consistent standards of practice in child care settings. Healthy Eating guidelines include recommendations related to the food environment, menu planning, nutritious food and beverages, healthy cooking techniques and food and eating safety. Active Living Guidelines include direction around the environment, sedentary behaviours, active play and physical literacy. Supporting information is provided by Ottawa Public Health through additional resources, such as menus, recipes and training e-modules. These guidelines are also available in French.
