Menu and Nutrition Environment Self-Assessment Tool for Child Care Settings
This tool was created to help child care cooks, chefs and providers assess their menus to meet the food and drink requirements in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. It describes the five steps in assessing a menu, and includes a portion size chart, and menu assessment checklists for meals, snacks and food and beverage choices. It also includes a supportive environment checklist.
This self-assessment tool complements the Menu Planning and Supportive Nutrition Environments in Child Care Settings – Practical Guide, and is part of a suite of child care resources offered by ODPH (previously the Ontario Society for Nutrition Professionals in Public Health/OSNPPH). They can be found on the ODPH website.
