No Time to Wait: The Healthy Kids Strategy
The problem of overweight and obesity among children will have an impact on children’s futures as well as the health care system. In January, 2012, the Ontario government set the target of reducing childhood obesity by 20 percent in 5 years. The multisectoral Healthy Kids Panel was asked for advice on the best way to meet that target. This report contains those recommendations. Recommendations are comprised of a three-part strategy: 1. Start all kids on the path to health, 2. Change the food environment and 3. Create healthy communities. The report elaborates on this three-part strategy.
