These guidelines provide recommendations on the amount of time in a 24-hour day that young children under 5 years of age, should spend being physically active or sleeping for their health and well being, and the maximum recommended time these children should spend on screen-based sedentary activities or time restrained.
These guidelines recommend a comprehensive set of interventions (including dietary) for reducing the risk of cognitive decline and dementia based on current research evidence.
Please note that the WHO guidelines on a healthy diet may differ in some respects from Canada’s Food Guide.

This US-based research review provides an overview of changes to obesity-prevention policies and guidance that have occurred over the past 5 years and a review of the impact that these interventions have had in the early care and education setting on promoting a healthy diet, adequate physical activity, and reduced screen time.
